Hi 😉

I think that in order to improve stability and reduce the impact of electromagnetic interference it is worth to change the order of signals distribution in the FFC connector.

If we analyze the diagram we can see that the ground signal has been connected to the FFC connector to many outputs.

In addition, part of the lines to this link are not used. So they can generate interference on the microcontroller and LCD display pins.
Some signals that are not used can be replaced by ground potential.

To reduce the impact of interference, you can use:

  • external pull-up resistors,
  • low-capacity interlocking capacitors,
  • Separate the delicate digital signals by the ground potential in the FFC connector (as is the case with IDE133 interface - ATA80 connector).

I expect that it would significantly improve the stability and reliability of LCD module operation in models where it is connected by a long cable.
