I understand this is probably a large undertaking, but it would be cool to see this part of the OpenSubsonic/Subsonic API added to LMS. I frequently share songs with my friends and would love just to be able to quickly send a link to the music I'm currently listening to 😄

I understand your need!
This is not impossible to do, but this needs careful work as for now all resources are "private" (images, audio files) and all accesses must be tied to an authenticated session.
