The bug

Photos uploaded from iOS and viewed on web are displayed in HDR only when zoomed in (the zoom level does not matter). Until photo zoom is changed, they are not shown in HDR.

The OS that Immich Server is running on

Version of Immich Server

v1.126.1

Version of Immich Mobile App

v1.126.1

Platform with the issue

Reproduction steps

  2. Observe that it is not in HDR

I think this is working as expected, it shows the large preview and then only loads the full size image when you zoom in.

If that is the reason, theoretical behavior does. However, the user experience is not great, and it's annoying to have to zoom in to see photos in HDR. Is there a change previews could also be encoded in HDR (no idea if that is technically possible)?

There's a few requests around this, but I think the closest to what you're looking for is #8484.
