Assistance with GitHub Student Developer Pack Application

Hi everyone,

I have applied for the GitHub Student Developer Pack twice, but my application was rejected both times. The first time, it was due to my school ID not displaying a date. The second time, I was informed that my photo appeared edited, though I had only combined both sides of my ID into a single file.

Since I don’t have an EDU email, I wanted to ask for guidance on how to submit my application correctly. Would it be acceptable to provide two separate, unedited photos of my ID?

Hey @Gustavo-DCosta.

Unfortunately, it's only possible to apply with an EDU email, unless your uni doesn't provide on or isn't found in github's db. For the image, I suggest you modify it before taking a screenshot of it.

Last I checked github only allows one photo.

I am a high school student, and my school informed me that they can only issue an EDU email if they classify me as a teacher, which is not possible. Because of this, I cannot obtain an EDU email.

As I mentioned, I already tried submitting a single image that included both sides of my school ID, but my application was rejected due to the photo appearing edited. However, I did not add any text—just combined both sides into one image.

Could you clarify what you mean by "modify it before taking a screenshot of it"? I’d like to ensure my submission meets the requirements.

Also, based on my experience, GitHub only allows one photo per application, as I attempted to upload multiple files but was unable to. Additionally, I noticed that the platform only accepts images up to 1MB in size.

first of all, I'd like to apologize for something I said earlier. I mentioned it was only possible to apply with an Edu mail, and that isn't true. You can apply without one.

I would suggest you reading thoroughly here, on the right side why it was rejected.

For me, what worked was, I took a picture of me holding the ID, where it obviously showed my name, photo, and school ID number. I think those are sufficient for approval. Having the platform allow only up to 1mb limits our options for this. But it's doable.

Good morning @mateusloubach, well I would like to do so. In matter of fact it is a good idea, however my school ID has two sides. The front side has our government name, the school name and the date (2024-2025) and the back side, has my credentials and a photo, and it's also signed by my school and me.

Try submitting two clear, unedited photos of your ID (one for each side). If your ID lacks a date, consider providing an enrollment letter or transcript. You can also contact GitHub support for more options.

If you can only submit one file, I suggest combining the two sides of your ID into a single clear, unedited image. Make sure both sides are fully visible and legible. Alternatively, you could try submitting an official document like an enrollment letter if that's allowed.
