AFTERGLOW is a WPC pinball machine extension board that aims at softening the hard light on/off transitions that result from replacing the original incandescent bulbs with LEDs.
The basic principle involves resampling of the original lamp matrix signals at a higher frequency. This allows for PWM LED dimming with a certain number of brightness steps.
A short video demonstrates the effect in my Whitewater pinball machine. Another video shows a side-by-side comparison with the original WPC driver.
